It's been a long, productive day of work and it's time to kick back, loosen your tie, and mix yourself a good cocktail. This time around go with the Old-Fashioned, a strong drink with just the right amount of punch to take the edge off. Thoughts of 1950s businessmen shaping the world one glass of Scotch at a time should be running through your mind as you prepare your taste buds for a roundhouse kick of deliciousness.

An old-fashioned in its natural environment

  • 1 sugar cube
  • 3 dashes Angostura bitters
  • club soda
  • 2 ounces rye whiskey
  • orange peel

Place the sugar cube or one half teaspoon of sugar in a low ball glass. Pour 3 dashes of Angostura bitters over the sugar and add a splash of club soda. Crush and stir the sugary mix and coat the bottom of the glass with it. Add one large ice cube and pour the rye whiskey over it. Garnish with an orange peel, take a sip, then pat yourself on the back, old sport.
